Although the majority of people in the West have spent hundreds
of hours in school being told about Christianity, few end their
secondary education knowing anything about the early Church
or the historical development of Christianity. Many imagine
that Jesus founded Christianity and laid down its doctrine,
ideas and practices, establishing orthodoxy and establishing
a priesthood to carry on his work.
